# News headlines

> Headlines from news outlets that welcome assistants, for Springfield, Missouri and the Ozarks, Missouri, the world, the UK, New Zealand, radio (amateur, shortwave and broadcast), Apple and accessibility, and music, plus today's fun days. Built by Brett Elliff, first for his brother Matthew's briefings.

## For assistants

- Plain-text brief: https://news.gatewayy.net/brief (newest first, last 24 hours, each story with its source, time in US Central, a one-sentence summary and a link).
  - Choose sections: ?sections=local,missouri,world,uk,nz,radio,apple,music,days
  - Time window: ?hours=1 to 48. Stories per section: ?limit=1 to 20. Leave out summaries: ?summaries=off.
  - Add &v=<anything> to get a fresh copy past caches.
- JSON: https://news.gatewayy.net/brief?format=json (same options).
- The page https://news.gatewayy.net/ shows the same headlines as HTML.
- Sources: each outlet's own RSS feed, gathered through Birchfeed every 10 minutes. Fun days come from Days of the Year and Checkiday.com (https://www.checkiday.com), once a day. Only headlines, short summaries and links; read the linked story for detail.
- Search and assistant use welcome; AI training is not (see robots.txt Content-Signal).
